There are standards needed for safety eyewear. Rigorous, certified — and sometimes in-house — testing is required in Australia.
The AS/NZS 1337.1 Certified Safety Rating
All our eyewear carries the AS/NZS 1337.1 certification and has undergone rigorous laboratory testing to meet Australia and New Zealand’s strict standards for medium impact safety eyewear. Frames and lenses are tested using calibrated steel ballistics at high velocities to simulate real-world hazards, ensuring they can withstand blunt force impacts without shattering or causing harm to the wearer. Optical clarity, coverage, and resistance to scratching and penetration are also measured.
LTD eyewear is sent to accredited test facilities that follow the protocols outlined in AS/NZS 1337.1:2010. Each model must pass multiple impact trials, durability checks, and field-of-vision tests before being approved. Only after meeting every requirement can we legally mark our eyewear with the certified rating.
UVA and UVB Tints
Our impact-rated eyewear meets the highest standard of UV protection in Australia and New Zealand. This means every lens is tested to block 100% of UVA and UVB rays up to 400 nanometres, shielding your eyes from the harsh solar conditions we experience daily. Independent labs use spectrophotometers to measure how much ultraviolet radiation passes through the lenses.
To achieve UV400 compliance under Australian and New Zealand regulations (AS/NZS 1067.1:2016), our sunglasses undergo detailed optical testing to verify that the lens tint, clarity, and protective coatings meet strict health and safety criteria. Only after meeting these standards can our eyewear be officially marked as UV400 compliant. It’s not just a sticker on the lens!
